Miles had already been ruled out for the season after undergoing left wrist surgery in early December, but the rebuilding Wizards had viewed the year-old as a valuable veteran presence on a young roster. Even so, Washington couldn't afford to keep Miles on the roster due to the club's mounting health concerns, as six other players remain sidelined due to injuries. The Wizards will convert Anzejs Pasecniks' two-way deal into a standard contract, allowing him to take Miles' spot on the man roster. The Wizards applied for a disabled player exception for Miles wrist on Monday, indicating they anticipate the swingman to miss the remainder of the season, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.

The year-old Miles is an unrestricted free agent who spent the last three years with Indiana, averaging 12 points per game with The Raptors struggled with depth last year and finished just 21st in the NBA in made three-pointers. Miles would be a valuable addition off the bench who can provide instant scoring. Getting C. Miles for Cory Joseph is a really nice piece of business for the Raptors. Fills a need and Raps have multiple cheap backup PGs. Norman Powell is likely to take on a bigger role in Toronto, while Delon Wright and Fred VanVleet should also get plenty of playing time next season.
